Patriots & Paws Non Profit:
A Brand Manual for Impact
Summary
Patriots & Paws is a Southern California nonprofit providing rescued companion animals and home furnishings to veterans, active military, reservists, and their families. This concept project aimed to modernize the brand and create a more professional identity.
My Role
Led the design of a brand identity kit with logo, stationery, merchandise, and brand guidelines.
Logo Process
This project emphasized experimentation, exploring logotypes, marks, and monograms with techniques like distortion, separation, and layering. Through research and iteration, these explorations were refined into a modern visual identity that is both distinct and memorable.
Competitive Analysis
Conducted in-depth competitive research on veteran-focused nonprofits, identifying opportunities for differentiation while keeping the branding professional and recognizable.
Brand Manual
Led the development of a comprehensive brand manual for the organization’s visual identity, defining logo usage, typography, color application, and design principles for print and digital materials. The manual ensures consistency while allowing flexibility for creative expression.
Apparel Designs
Developed the creative concept for the apparel designs, blending strong dark blues with soft light tones to create a kind, approachable look that remains professional and stylish.
Stationary Designs
I designed two stationery sets: a casual version with white and light blue for a fresh feel, and a formal version with dark and pastel blues for a professional look.
