Nogales Buffalo Soldiers:
A Logo Rooted in History

Summary

The Nogales Buffalo Soldier Project seeks to redo their original logo to honor the Buffalo Soldiers of Camp Little in Nogales, Arizona. These African American soldiers served on the Western frontier in the U.S. Army after the Civil War, and the project aims to preserve their history through a museum exhibition that educates the public about their legacy and contributions.

My Role

Redesign the original logo for the Nogales Buffalo Soldier Project.

Logo Design

The redesigned Nogales Buffalo Soldier logo uses gestural lines and strong shapes to reflect the strength and resilience of the soldiers. The buffalo face conveys their power and bravery, while the crossed rifles between its eyes symbolize their historical significance. The color scheme, inspired by the blue and gold of the soldiers' uniforms, represents their pride and history.

Apparel Design

Apparel was requested to be sold at the exhibition, so the design showcases the full Nogales Buffalo Soldier logo as a bold and stylish item. By incorporating the buffalo and crossed rifles in a modern, visually appealing way, the design offers a statement piece that captures attention while staying fashionable.
